PP Travel's 30 Years in Thalkirchen Reunion
IT'S STILL ON
PP Travel's 30 years in Munich reunion
(we just do not know when)
Great news: The "great survivor" celebration (opening day practice session above in full swing above) is happening. Not only will we have outlasted everyone in Thalkirchen, but we are going to survive this bloody rotten pandemic! So, join us in 2021 ... or 2022 ... or maybe 2023 - when it will still be our 30th year!!
Ok, we have hosted and run some great parties and tours over the years. But let's face it, 2020 has turned out to be just a bit of dud ...
We all know the world has been turned upside down since we sent out invitations to all past and current PP crew in February for what we hoped would be the jewel in the crown of 30 years of parties. The cancellation this week of not only the Oktoberfest, but the Running of the Bulls and La Tomatina, really hits home how serious and awful this all is. Let me reach out and wish all the best the entire PP family locked down and effected by this - hope you're all safe and well.
2020: PP's entire tour year cancelled, but we'll survive
First it was Anzac Day at Gallipoli, then Royal Ascot and inevitably, the rest. No tours for PP this year. I'm proud to say that not only have we kept our pax fully up to date, we offered all full refunds (hate that word) the very day each was cancelled. Everyone has taken a hit by this - including PP and its staff - but we are determined to be back as soon as possible. In fact, our 2021 are for sale right now (can't promise they'll actually happen), so it's still service to our pax, sell, sell, sell - and party ... when we can!
Tranny, Lynne and the Monster
With no tours to operate, I thought it timely that I take over the ops role (and twiddle my thumbs for a year or so, stuck in Melbourne) freeing Mark and Lynne to work as much as possible elsewhere in the UK. The need for our IT, websites etc never stops, so Shane is still feverish on his PCs, laptops, phones in his Brisbane bunker keeping the digital world of PP alive and well.
Virtual PP 2020 Oktoberfest opening day party: Saturday September 19, 2020
A date for the diary and an event that is definitely going ahead. We'll do our best to recreate the "grand final of parties" on what was meant to be the opening of this year's. Oktoberfest. So, get out your zoom, webex, whatsapp. Put on your dirndls and lederhosen. Dust off your steins and join us for the online party of the year. More details closer to the time.
All PP crew invited to our 2020 "great survivor" celebration in our 30th year at Munich's infamous Campingplatz Thalkirchen.
Beginning with borrowed cook tents and some (stolen) tables back in 1991 it's been an amazing and certainly intoxicating 3 decades camped beside the Isar River during the Oktoberfest ... and best of all: we're still there!
They've all gone - bar the one great surviving party tour operator ... PP Travel!
Top Deck, Contiki, Tracks, Autotours, New Look, Backpacker Co, Trippers, Wanderers, First Festival, Festival Adventures, Fanatics ... just to name a few, who couldn't handle the pace in Thalkirchen.
A celebration is definitely in order, so join us again over the first week of this year's Beerfest as we prost 30 years of dodgy wet tents and great times at Europe's biggest party. This year's fest begins on Saturday September 19 with our major crew celebrations planned for mid-week at the campsite, along reserved tables at the fest and we may even have to repent our sins out at Andechs Monastery. Full details will be sent out closer to the dates, but book your fares now, contact us regarding camping accommodation (tents/dorms) or central hotels - all at cost. Standard camping at EUR€30pppn, Shared Glamping tents at EUR40pppn and Dorm beds at EUR50pppn. All, in true PP Travel style to be paid in cash on arrival. Lets us know if you want hotel accommodation and we will let you know what is available.
Please pass the word to around to all crew and simply do it! You know you wanna go back - it doesn't get any better than the Beerfest - and who knows in this crazy world it could be your last chance to join PP on a camping tour.
