Munich Oktoberfest FAQ's

Oktoberfest Camping tours, where do we stay?

PP Travel has been staying at Munich's famous Campingplatz Thalkirchen since our year 1 in 1991. Thalkirchen is located only 3km from the Oktoberfest, just three stops on the underground or around €12 in a taxi.

Campingplatz Thalkirchen has always been the place to be during the Oktoberfest - it is where everyone meets up. Facilities include toilets and token-operated hot showers - 1.8 euro a shower token. It is also byo toilet paper during the fest. Its bar always does a great trade plus there are money changing facilities, a good shop stocking food and snacks.

Being on the Munich U-Bahn (underground - Thalkirchen stop on U3) it is easy to get to our campground. It is also easy to get to the Oktoberfest, which is only 3 or 4 stops away. We can only offer limited coach shuttles from the campground to the Oktoberfest on the due to Munich police laws. Other times transport to the Oktoberfest will be on the underground and tickets will be available upon request.

Tents
The tents are pre-erected by our ground crew prior to your arrival in Munich. Standard tents are mainly twin share or single occupancy and Glamping tents holding 1 to 4 people. You will need to bring all bedding with you - we suggest a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat or air mattress if you have one. We have sleeping mats new and used, plus sleeping mats/air mattresses for sale at the camp at very economical prices. It is advised to pre-book these before arriving at our campsite.

Dorms
We also have very limited 4-bedded and 10-bedded dorm packages on all weekends and mid-week at Thalkirchen. You have to book early to secure one of these beds. Each dorm is equipped with bunk beds, with a clean cover sheet and your own personal locker. You must bring your own bedding - sleeping bag, pillow or blankets, plus towel and toiletries. Also a padlock for your locker.
