Oktoberfest and Rugby 7's
Launched in 2017 the Oktoberfest 7's was an instant hit with tourists and surprisingly, with locals also, but due to scheduling issues and intense negotiations with World Rugby on the tournaments format and it's position in world competitions the tournament did not go ahead in 2018.
BUT in 2019 the tournament is back, fully endorsed by World Rugby and raring to go, there will be twelve hours over two days where you can experience rugby action on the world stage during the exhilarating Oktoberfest atmosphere in Munich. This year the tournament will run on the 21st and 22nd of September and we assure you, you will DEFINITELY be able to get a beer at this sports event. No fun police here!
The tournament will be held at the world famous Munich Olympic Stadium, just three miles away from the world's most famous Beer Festival. Amateur teams can also look forward to a separate tournament which will be held parallel to the main event in Munich.
Germany only just lost out to Japan in the 7's qualifiers at the Hong Kong Sevens in 2018 and they'll be looking to build on their improvement in the game with a strong showing at the Munich event this year.
With the expansion of the tournament the organisers have created loads of volunteer positions this year where you'll be provided with a uniform, food and drinks and be able to watch the action for free
