Hogmanay 2010/11 Another Huge Year for Revellers

Opening Night in Resolution Square: from 5-9pm. Aidan O'Rourke and Brian Kellock, Malinky and Salsa Celtica perform on stage in the Mound precinct.

Torchlight Procession, from outside St Giles' Cathedral to Calton Hill: from 6:30pm. Shetland's famed Up Helly Aa Vikings lead a parade of fire from the Royal Mile to Calton Hill.

Concert in the Gardens, West Princes Street Gardens: from 9pm-1am. Biffy Clyro, The Charlatans and Billy Bragg perform at the flagship all-ticket concert beneath Edinburgh Castle.

Hogmanay Street Party, in and around Princes Street: from 9pm-1am. Live bands and DJs will perform across four stages, including The Coral, Treacherous Orchestra and Michelle McManus.

The Keilidh: from 9pm-1am. An open-air ceilidh on The Mound with three bands, Heuch, Hugh MacDiarmid's Haircut, and the Brechin City Rollers.

1 January 2011

One O'Clock Run, from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade: from 1pm. A one-mile fun run for 1,000 participants from the castle to Holyrood Park.

One Day, Resolution Square: from 1pm. Singers Roddy Woomble, Roddy Hart, Tommy Reilly, Dick Gaughan and Dougie MacLean will perform specially written material for New Year's Day, with Julie Fowlis, Lau, Daniel Thorpe and the Scottish Guitar Quartet also due to appear.

A New Year's Day Conversation, National Gallery of Scotland: from 2pm, with crime writers Ian Rankin and Lin Anderson.

The Loony Dook, South Queensferry: from 2:30pm. The annual chance to take to take the plunge in fancy dress below the Forth Bridge.

Resolution Concert, Princes Street Gardens: from 5-8pm. KT Tunstall, King Creosote, Kassidy and the Silver Columns take the stage for the first ever New Year's Day concert in the gardens.

The Big Bash, Murrayfield Stadium: from 5:35pm. Edinburgh Rugby take on Glasgow Warriors in the world's oldest club derby competition.
